Tibetan monks from the Drepung Gomang monastery visit the USA each year on a Sacred Arts tour.
This visit, December 29, 2013 – January 2, 2014 does not include a sand mandala but when they return (January 15 – 22, 2015) St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church, in Islamorada, will be the venue for a Sand Mandala and Tibetan Marketplace, All proceeds from sales and donations go to the monastery.
Member Franklin Sheen is facilitating this next visit and coordinating with the church.
The Drepung Gomang Tour goal is preserving the Tibetan Culture, Traditions and Religion, spreading the message of peace, compassion and interfaith understanding /harmony, and also helping the exiled Monastery, located in South India, raise funds to educate, feed, house and care for the, almost 2,000, exiled Tibetan Monks.
More information will become available as we get closer to the event.
