4th of July Parade

2017

Here are pictures from 2017’s event:

In addition, attached to the fireballs that were thrown from our float were little cards with the question, “Who was/is your favorite teacher and why?” with the contact info to post and win a trip on The Key Largo Princess, the glass bottom boat. The winner was 6-year old Lucas, whose favorite teacher is Mx. Louanne Bradley at Treasure Village Montessori in Islamorada.

He says she is his favorite “Because she loves me and I lover her”

Congratulations to Lucas, his father Jonathon and two friends on their winning this terrific prize donated to us for the Keys Kindness Festival.

4th of july 2017 salute to teachers

This year’s parade’s theme is  Salute to Teachers.

Attached to the fireballs we will be throwing will be a card asking people, “Who is/was your favorite teacher?”

Recipients can contact nancy@keystopeace.org or post on our Facebook page with their answers and get a chance to win a trip for four on the Key Largo Princess, the glass-bottom boat.

An eblast, asking for volunteers to prepare the float (Traveling Peace Arch), ride the float, or staff the booth in the park handing out water, went out June 26th.

‘Watch this space!’

2016

Parade starts at Anthony’s Clothing Store, so we will meet there at 8:30 AM on 7/4/16. Everything will be provided—wear lightweight clothing.

This year the Keys to Peace float won the Grand Marshal’s Trophy for Best Original Float!

Many thanks to all our volunteers, including Nancy Joe (who organized the event), Lee Spinks (who drove the truck) and all the volunteers riding, including members Saya Liu & Val Poulos.

Here are some pictures from the event and from the ceremony at Key Largo Chamber of Commerce awarding the plaque.
